BCE isn't elementary looking!
It's sexxxyy... I like the holographic, detailed clear look though.

It isn't elementary looking, but it feels VERY flimsy and cheaply made Smiley Sad

Re: AMEX BCE vs Costco?

I guess I shop more than I thought as Costco since I spent enough to make the executive membership worthwhile but I do most of my shopping at Whole Foods.   I buy gas when I can at Costco but it's not exactly conveniently located so I'd say I get my gas there maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the time.  So, maybe the BCE would be better.

Re: AMEX BCE vs Costco?

BCE/P is an every day card for groceries / gas.

Costco, if you need restaurant and I think limited travel rewards, trends better.  I haven't penciled it out as I know my grocery bill is going to go way up and my restaurant bills will go down post mortgage, but right now the TE card would spank my BCP for me personally rewards wise... and I've already made my AF back and then some on the BCP only having it for four months.

Lets not forget that the TE rate is 15.24, the BCE has that 'creditworthiness range' <sigh>

Also I believe your TrueEarnings "cash back" is a check cut to you for use at Costco whereas the BCE is Reward Dollars that can be redeemed as statement credit.

TE is 3% on Costco and standalone gas up to $4000 annually / BCE is 2%

BCE is 3% on groceries up to $6000 annually / TE is standard 1%

BCP is 6% on groceries...

And from what I hear the BCE/BCP/Blue cards are all pretty elementary looking.  I'm weird like that, I like the look of my cards as much as I do their rewards and credit limits Smiley Happy

TE does not earn 3% on Costco purchases other than gas, unless you have the Executive membership.

TE Rewards breakdown:

Gold Membership: 3% Gas (including Costco gas), 2% Travel, 2% Dining, 1% Everything else (this includes Costco non-gas purchases)

Executive Membership: 3% Gas (including costco), 3% Costco purchases (1% + 2% executive rewards for costco purchases), 2% Dining, 2% Travel, 1% Everything else

Re: AMEX BCE vs Costco?

Now that I have gotten my partner to get both I can tell you:

Currently Costco is running a promo if you are an Executive member and apply for the Costco Amex I think Personal is giving $50 Cash Bonus and Business $75.

Now, Blue Cash Preferred pays for itself up to max a year for grocery but after that I think and I'm shocked to say with a closer look, Costco is better for Gas and Restaurant.

Blue does kick in the Department store.

I have both and I use them both, so I recommend you get both of them.  Smiley Tongue   I like the Costco TE for the 3% on gas and the 2% on dining.  I like the BCE for the 3% on groceries and 2% on dept stores.
