I was recently given a second chance with AMEX after a CO in 2012. My first AMEX was issued March 2007. I just received the new one 8/25/17. My online account and the physical card both say "Member Since 2007." I've been spending all night reading various threads on here and was just reading about AMEX backdating... something I hadn't previously heard of. Oddly enough, this account hasn't reported yet, but when it does, will it backdate to 2007?

My card says 07 on it, which surprised me... even more than getting a second chance with them. Guess I'll just have to wait until it reports and see

My cards have 92 on them from when I was an AU on my mom's card a lifetime ago. None of them show that date on my reports.
Bummer. Got all excited for nothing. Well thanks for the info, everyone!

Just to clear up confusion, Amex seems to be putting the app year on new primary cards. The online account will have the original backdating. The reports will not. AU cards in my experience have the backdating and any replacement cards have the backdating. Just a weird bug that the first primary card will have 2017 on it unless you request a replacement.
This is nothing against @DUISlayer because the question comes up a lot but it just goes to show you much the Amex backdating was beloved. Almost like we lost a good friend when it ended.
