AMEX CLI WTH?

Yesterday was my 60 dau mark for my AMex Delta Gold, so I requested a CLI from 10,500-->14, 900 and was promptly approved. Today is the 60 day mark for my Amex BCP. My request was rejected *sad trombone* and I got the following message. Have you heard of this happening before?

Our bank policy does not permit us to increase the line of credit on your account within six months since increasing the line of credit on one of your existing American Express accounts.

Amex PR Gold NPSL | Amex BCP 16.5k| Amex Delta Gold Skymiles 14.9k | Discover 9.75k | Citi Diamond Preferred 11.9k | Chase Freedom 8.9k | Chase Sapphire Preferred 9k | US Bank Cash + Visa 13k | BankAmericard Cash Rewards Signature Visa 9.5k | M and T Bank Visa 10.9k | FICO TU 793 EQ 793 EX 784

Re: AMEX CLI WTH?

Hello!

Yes- it is Amex policy that you can only request one CLI each 6 months (including the 61 Day CLI)  across all cards.  So since you got the CLI on the Delta- no CLI again for any other cards for 6 months.  6 months from now- you may request a 3X CLI again for one if your cards.

Starting Score: 642
Current Score: EQ 781, EX 776 (Amex Pull), TU 786 (All FICO)
Goal Score: 800+

Cards: NFCU Flagship 25K, NFCU CR 25K, CSP 20.5K, Arrival 20K, BCP 18.3K, PRG NPSL, Total Avail- 193K+

If you got a CLI on an AMEX, you have to wait 6 months for another CLI request for any other AMEX account you have.   If you just got a CLI on your AMEX Delta Gold, you won't be able to request a CLI on your BCP for 6 months.

So it's not unusual or a bad sign, just AMEX's policy.

Re: AMEX CLI WTH?

Congrats on the CLI! Does anyone know if the 61 day request results in a HP?

It doesn't unless you end up talking to a rep and they ask your permission.  Otherwise it goes off the last pull (soft)  they did that's in the system.
