AMEX CLI denied!

I've only tried the x3 once and was declined (on the >61 day), after that I usually stuck to x2 or x2.5, and have been successful. YMMV as usual.

I'm probably going to the same. I have Amex Delta with 2k CL. I want the magic 5k CL so will ask for a 2.5x CLI and be happy with it

Mine was at 9500. I asked to be bump to 21000, figuring that might be conservative, given all the "success" stories I've seen of the 3x CLI's.

Reading these boards will do strange things to your expectations.

Well, its all relative. You have to consider how high of a limit you recieve from the get go. Its alot different going from 2k to 4k then 9500 to 21k. That 3x rule is abolutely unrealistic for the most part when you start off with a high 4 figure limit. I doubt they give out lines over 25k if so, rare.

Is requesting 3xcli from $3500 to $10500 unrealistic?! I have one other card at $12k. It'd be awesome to have a $10,000+ cl with Amex. :-)

got my recon decision back: denied. Still at $5400 credit line. I have to wait on mail to find out the reason. I think they should have given me something lower at least considering how much I've run through the card in 6 months.

While the 3xCLI  is never guaranteed, it does seem people have good success with it and if not the full 3x at least a counter. Have you gained other CC accounts since you acquired your Amex. This might be the only negative thing I could think about going on an app spree with the BCE in mind because when you app'd they would have not seen the new accounts. But, when you request a CLI at your 61 day mark, they suddenly see other accounts and their associated CL's and the computer might kick back that the current limit they gave you exceeds how much total CL Amex believes you are "safe" to have.

 I will have to let you know how it goes when I request from 7,500 to 22,500. This would be a huge jump so I wonder what it would be.

Well... In my case I opened a Discover at the same time as my BCE. Neither account is reporting yet. I don'y believe they'd view one add'l account being opened as a reason to not honor a 3xcli, but I did just start banking with Amex lol so I'm not all that familiar with them. Lol

Do people actually get counter clis with Amex... In alk my years of credit building, I've not once gotten a counter cli request lol... I either get it or I don't... Or gey higher lol
