If one works for me, then they do it my way or they're fired. I think that is pretty standard in the working world. You either do things the way your employer tells you to, or they don't want to pay you to work for them. I really don't see a problem with this, but I have been in middle management for 8 years; so I am more apt to see things from the company's point of view.

I left them for discover after about six months. I wasnt a bitter employee. But the diffrence between the two companys was night and day. I beleive discover is without question the leader in customer service.

Sorry off subject, but when you worked for AMEX did they give you a easier chance to get approved, higher limit or was it standard UW for all?? Sorry I always wanted to know :smileyhappy:

Re: AMEX Customer Service?

I agree with dodgeball on Discover vs. Amex.

Not only has Discover provided me with better customer service representatives and prompt action. The "call in experience" has also been superior in many ways (friendlier staff, U.S. based on first call, prompt, respectful, ect.).

I also find there website to be much better.

Perhaps my opinion about the websites may be considered bias because I predominately use the mobile websites which may vary in a large way from the actual versions of the two.

Please understand that this is my personal opinion based on my limited experiences with each company...
Amex B.C.E. - $2.5k - C.U.M.C. - $5k - Amex Gold - NPSL - Discover More - $3k - Sam's Club Discover - $10k - Walmart Discover - $5.4k -

Re: AMEX Customer Service?

Both Amex and Chase have mediocre CS at best in my opinon. In general, reps from both are rushed and impersonal. And I agree, Amex CS reps usually are clearly internationally located.

I've said it here before and I'll say it again, Discover has the BEST CS of any of the major CCC's, or at least that I've done business with. They are US based, and they are personal and take the time to have a conversation. They are also usually very knowledgable and efficent. Like with all companies, I've had a bad Discover rep occasionally, but in general they are usually excellent.

FNBO Visa $19K | Discover IT $15.3K | Citi Forward $10.5K | US Bank Cash+ Visa Sig $10K | Amazon/Chase Visa Sig $8.3k | Priceline/Barclays $6K | BoA Cash Rewards 1-2-3 Sig $5.5K | Sallie Mae World MC/Barclays $5K | Capital One Cash Rewards $5K | WF Cash Back Visa $3.6K | Citi ThankYou Preferred $3.5K | Amazon/GEMB $2.5K | AMEX BCE $2K | Younkers/WFNNB $2K | Commerce Bank $2K | Target $1K | AMEX Green

Re: AMEX Customer Service?

In terms of the actual credit cards, I think Chase and Amex cards are superior to Discover, benefits-wise.  Can't beat 6% cash back on groceries with the BCP and the UR points for the CSP are great with the huge amount of redemption options.  I've only called Discover once or twice, but they were extremely nice and helpful.  If I were going to pick a card based on customer service alone, I might pick Discover.  However, the reps I've spoken to at both Amex and Chase have always been polite and seemed to do their best to be helpful.  Sometimes it is a long wait while they try to find an answer, but I don't know whether that's due to the rep or the computer system they're using.  When I've spoken to the reps from India, they've been perfectly nice, but sometimes hard for me to understand, and its frustrating to have to ask someone to repeat themselves.  When I visited India a few years ago, one of our guides said the turn-over rate in the call centers was pretty high.

CSP is marketed and geared this way. AMEX does not market a specific card like this.

Also FYI talking about someones race and foreign call centers are prohibited on here.
