Re: AMEX Customer Service?

Yes, in total agreement with others regarding Discover customer service.  They have improved substantially over the years.  Their credit cards serve a purpose to all who have them.  And their website is outstanding, right up there with AMEX.

However, AMEX (and Chase) offer travel services that Discover doesn't offer.  Part of the customer service experience is being able to book travel arrangements through a credit card and to receive competitive pricing.  AMEX and Chase both offer that; Discover doesn't.  Discover does offer the "My Concierge" service to book limos, jets, rent cell phones, etc, but doesn't have an arrangement with a travel site for booking flights.  That may come in the future, but that's a shortcoming of Discover.  AMEX has a relationship with Travelocity, I think.  And you can book just about anything through them and use your points to pay for your booking.  AMEX has more experience in this field, since they've been doing it for years.  One can book on-line or can call AMEX and connect to their concierge service, where you can ask questions and get suggestions.  THAT is what customer service is all about.  Diversity in service.  And again, AMEX is a clear leader in that.
