AMEX EDP or SPG

What do you think is a better deal?

The EDP with 30k Bonus or

The SPG with 25k Bonus?

It depends on what you do with them, of course. Keep in mind that both programs occasionally offer transfer bonuses.

If you don't know how you should personally value them, then maybe go for SPG since you'll have greater flexibility in using the points (given SPG's numerous transfer partners).

It depends if you want MR or SPG points.

No one can determine the best deal for you, research and it all depends how you travel.

Re: AMEX EDP or SPG

Didnt they nerf the SPG and change the promo to 2 free nights? Smiley Sad

I got in on the 25K thankfully

NFCU $60.4k/PenFed $22.5k/Commerce $15K/53 $11K/Synovus $14K/BBT $11K/CapOne $12K/DCU $7.5K/BMO $7.5K/Chase $14.5k/Cabelas $10K/ and many many more!
Total CL $398600, plus car and RV loan.
Ooh. Ooh. Getting closer to that $500K mark!

It's back to a public 25k. Current spend requirement is $3k.

The SPG program, and these points earnings, seem like they would be at risk of going away forever with the Marriott merger set to subsume SPG in a year or two.

With the AMEX one-per-lifetime limit on bonus now, I'd take the SPG 25k points, if points are offered. Those could be transferred or used in SPG or Marriott stays (transfer 1:3 to Marriott for example, thus a 75,000 Marriott points bonus if you want that).

The EDP will continue, and with AMEX likely to continue promos, that card would more likely be available later, with a similar 30k bonus, compared to the SPG which seems like it may get nerfed in the future.

So SPG now and EDP later would be my suggestion.

full disclosure, I took the SPG 30,000 points offer in late 2015 when that came up with an expiration date. Then soon after hit an EDP In Cognito offer for 25k or 30k points and took that one as it was temporarily available. I am seeing more larger offers on AMEX cards when I launch In Cognito browser sessions, which makes me think they are extending these larger points bonuses, so they are more likely to be available when you are ready for them.
