I don't know about OP, but I'm always amused when someone thinks I'm a he. Smiley Wink

BTW, OP, I didn't mean that it was awful of you to somehow involve your card with a cell-phone issue, and I now see what you meant. It just set a tiny light flickering in my over-crowded mind, and it turns out that it was on a post by Fretless Mayhem. Anyway, I agree, even if it had been used to buy a half-dozen Blackberries, that would have been a ridiculous trigger.

We're like a TV investigation show, examining the body of AmEx FR victims, trying to find clues and ties to previous victims! CSI: myFICO, maybe. (Can I be whats-her-name, the impossibly thin Greek actress on the CSI:NY version, with the crazy curly hair?)

I didn't do it! It was like that when I found it.

Yeah, I'm a she.  Smiley Wink  I noticed all the he talk but thats the last of my worries right now!  I searched and read some old threads and it really doesnt seem that there is a method to the FR triggers.  Still irritating tho!

Applying for multiple cards in a short period of time is a trigger. And I read somewhere else that any cash advance is a trigger.

My first Amex transaction was a cash advance at a casino in Delaware. I was not too happy about making that first impression, but I was put in the situation, and really, a cash advance shouldn't be too big of a deal. I paid it back the next day.

I know. I made the mistake of letting my hotel authorize my room on my debit card. Instead of $90, they authorized like $500 for some weird reason, which was my gambling money. I didn't want my 4 hour drive to be wasted.

Re: AMEX Flagged for FR

So does anyone think I stand a good chance to get FR'ed? When I applied for my card, it was the third one of night (I had been 7 months since my last credit card app.) but I did these 3 in one night. A citi, a Chase and an Amex....got the Amex.

I am pretty sure the other two apps. hadn't gone through to the reporting agencies yet since I did the 3 apps all within 90 minutes or so (late on a Friday night)

So now, a few weeks later, it will show that I applied for all 3. They may not like it?

Inquiries show up instantly.  New accounts can take a while sometimes, but if you apply for two CCs within just a couple of minutes of each other, and they pull the same CRA, you can bet the second CCC is going to see the inquiry from the first one.

The good news is that even if Citi, Chase, and Amex all pulled from the same CRA (unlikely), Amex knew about the other two apps when you were approved.  If neither Citi nor Chase pulled EX, then Amex wouldn't have seen those inquiries anyway.

Re: AMEX Flagged for FR

Okay, according to my dad, we received 1.5 millions points for the crane purchase which of course means tons of free stuff that more than paid for the annual fee... and of course we've spent a lot more than that on the card, so I can't even imagine how many points we've already racked up.
