Re: HELP!! AMEX GOLD OR PLAT?

Well...the EXP is not current. The other 2 are. I just haven't paid for updated EXP score yet.

Re: HELP!! AMEX GOLD OR PLAT?

That's the one I was concerned with since Amex primarily pulls that first

Re: HELP!! AMEX GOLD OR PLAT?

Yea that's why I figured you asked. I won't be applying until I check score and confirm I am over 700 on EXP. ;-)

Re: HELP!! AMEX GOLD OR PLAT?

Over 700 isn't a necessity but 609 might be a little low.

Re: HELP!! AMEX GOLD OR PLAT?

Oh wow. Okay! I think I will cross 700 though but at least should be at 685-690ish so once I pay for the new score...as long as it's high enough...I will apply. I believe Discover is going to pull my EQ...I really hope my score is high enough. 702 is a bit low :-(

702 is great in my book, but the overall profile is more important.

And just to add on what others said: these two cards are very different. Get the Plat if you want the perks (which has been listed many times), and get the PRG if you want to earn points to transfer to airlines.

Re: HELP!! AMEX GOLD OR PLAT?

There's more to approvals then your CS. Credit profile, income etc will be taken into account. Many on this board with scores higher than yours have been declined for Discover and Amex for various reasons including but not limited to:

Excessive inq's
High util
Low AAOA
Too many accounts opened in the past 12 mos.

I didn't ask your profile since your question was based on 'which' instead of 'should I'? If you have a really thin file, high inq's or baddies the same UW will not matter. It would still be a decline.

Re: HELP!! AMEX GOLD OR PLAT?

@SuperKirby

OPs other post has his rev cr history at 2 mos. with a BoA CL of $300. Caution might be a better idea
