I don't understand why so many people are interested in upgrading a card unless you are being offered bonus points to upgrade.  Even the 25K MR offer for the Platinum card that is available now would be better than PCing and getting no bonus.  Unless you're getting ready for a mortgage app real soon, a single inquiry isn't that big of a deal.  Reading these forums will make you think inquries are the devil.

LS please let me know how you are getting use of the AF or getting around it with perks.

I know global entry is $100 and $200 in airline stuff that $300 for first year.

The $200 airline credit is on a calendar basis.  So you can get your second $200 after Jan 1 before the AF would come due.  In the first year of having the card you can have $400 in airline credits.  That gets you most of the way there.
