Never rely on prequals. Assess your own reports. Apply for cards that suit your needs/wants.

Work on addressing those first. Derogs tend to have a major impact and hold one's scores down as long as they are reporting. If they're medical, Google and see if whychat's HIPAA method would help.
You want to identify the issues with the biggest impact and address them first instead of just waiting and hoping for a preapp.
