This month my annual fee of $75 was due on my AMEX Surpass card, and I called in to see if it could be waived, and if not I would consider canceling (a bluff). Was easily offered a $75 "loyalty credit" (as AMEX phrased it).
Due to other posts here, I was under the impression it was more difficult to receive these credits on co-branded cards, but it was rather easy for me. Anyone else looking into this, or if you're hesitant, give it a shot.
