Backdating means future AmEx cards you obtain will have this year and the month you apply for the card as an open date.

Current Score: EQ 741 12/2011, EX 734 11/2012 (PSECU), TU98 695 9/2012

So if i apply on march of 2013, the backdate for that card would be 01/2012???? Not 09/2012?

No it would be 03/12, It backdates to whatever month you apply during, to the year of your original amex card. That is why many people suggest applying during January because you get the whole year basically.

no if you apply in 3/13 it will read as opened 3/12  and your original card will still read 9/12

Oh, thats awesome! That would help with my AAoA if i try on january... That would also be a soft pull right? And hard pull if approved??? ( on charge cards or revolvers)
