I am now eligible for the 61+ day CLI for my BCE, I am just waiting for them to SP my report so they see my low utilization. My starting limit is $5400 which it sits now. I started playing with the Check Your Spending limit today and started at $8000 up to $15,000. It approved me up $10,000 then I typed in $15,000 amd said that my "request could not be approved at this time" and to call in. I then went back and requested $12,000 got declined, and $10,000 and got declined. It must recognized that I did it too many times and just started to reject my request. Last month I could only get it to approve up to $7000.
My question is: is there any correlation between the approval of spending limit and CLIs done at 61+ days and 6 months etc? I'd like to get my CLI on my BCE asap and atleast $11,000 so I'm wondering if I should request my CLI now. My last AMEX SP had me at 25% utilization and I'm now at 6%. Are spending limit approvals based on SPs or history etc?
Thanks

I'm new to Amex....what is "check your spending limit"? Is you spending limit not your credit limit?
You can actually go over that "credit line" without penalties as long as you pay down to below your credit limit for that statement.

It thinks those are each separate charges, so you were requesting approval for another 15K charge and 12K charge after already being approved for a 10K charge (and maybe an 8K charge as well if I understand you correctly).
So you're saying if I check my spending limit and gotten approved for $8000, then $10,000, I actually got approved for $18,000 total? So I could have requested $18,000 from the start and gotten approved?
Also, if it is accumulative, when does it reset?

That's my understanding based on lots of posts about checking spending ability and FR, though with lots of info like this, you have to question how in the world the person posting knows what they are talking about. Unless you work for Amex IT, I don't know how you could know the answer to that. Even if a CSR told you, it seems like the kind of thing that they would be susceptible to different answers from different CSRs.
No idea when it resets.
I don't think they are combined requests.
I do think there is a correlation between checking your spending and the cli approval chance.
I'd wait for another soft pull, then request the full 3x.
Here's at least one of the posts I was thinking of: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/AMEX-Check-Your-Spending-Limit/td-p/993158/highlight/tr...
Turns out is was from a CSR. Give that whatever weight you wish.

Thanks. Although it may be useful info, I think it is a bit outdated since the poster noted that it was back in 2003.
So the next and equally important question is; if I get approved for $12,000 either cumulatively or single charge, would I be also approved for a CLI request up to that amount? Reason for asking is my 61 days is up and my last SP was 12/05/12 when my utilization was around 25%. It's now 7%. I would like to request a CLI now because on the 15th my utilization may go up from an international vacation and xmas expenses.
