AMEX dinged me twice at EXP for the same app. they insisted i was mistaken, but said if it did happen, then i could fax them the inquiries on my CR, and they would review it. they said if it was found to be true, they would remove the offending inquiry. i wasnt holding my breath. anyway, so far so good, as within a week i got a letter back from AMEX stating, "we have contacted Experian and instructed them to suppress the inquiry that was placed in your credit bureau report on January 31, 2012." said EXP by law has to update the file within 90 days. believe me when i say im keeping this letter handy!
