Re: AMEX keeps sending pre-approvals despite a charge past SOL

You're welcome.  LOL.  Don't worry, it won't scare them and it's not a "demand."  They usually send you something in writing anyway.  Trust me, they know you don't want it reported.

Wait to get the debt paid in full.  If you apply now, you may be auto denied.  Then you'd have to apply all over again after that payment and risk a score hit for the second inquiry.

Will Amex offer to do an application  for me upon payment, or should I wait?

Hmmmm, that's a good question.  I'm not sure but my guess is that they will want payment in advance, unless they can offer you a payment plan.  Give them a call and see what they say.  Just get a feel of what they prefer.  Can't hurt to ask.

Thank you for your insights.I am disputing EQ & EX. You make a good point, I don't want the debt to re-surface as paid, and am concerned. Whenever they"ve sent me these settlement offers, I do my due diligence and ask them to validate, which they never do. But, I would like to get it over with, and move on. Should I get something in writing? I"ve seen board members say Oasis has been discontinued...but I have gotten 3 gold card offers in the mail the past two weeks, and it is me itchy to do something...

The reason they do not DV is because as an OC they do not generally have to.

Call the number that appears on your most recent collections letter.  Odds are it leads to either their Atlanta or their Nebraska collections department.  Explain that only because of your desire to get back in with AmEx -- and not because you actually owe the debt -- you are considering payment.  Ask about the Oasis program.  If the representative tells you no, hang up and try again the next day.  If after several attempts different representatives tell you no, then you may be out of luck with Oasis.

If you do get someone to tell you Oasis is an option, ask them to send you the formal invitation and then you will pay them right away.  They will not be put off by a polite request for the Oasis letter.

Re: AMEX keeps sending pre-approvals despite a charge past SOL

Thanks for the advice. I did send letters after SOL that basically said, I don't recall the debt, but  I would be happy to pay in full for re-instatement priviliges. Is Oasis still available?

By the way, AMEX never responded to my letters that requested validation, and an offer of payment by me in exchange for charge priviliges...

AmEx, as an original creditor, does not have to respond to validation requests.

Some have stated that they have been told that Oasis no longer exists.  However, I have seen a couple of people who have been recently invited into the Oasis program.  You will only get a definitive answer by speaking directly with AmEx.
