AMEX offfers for existing card members

hi im new to amex and ive been reading posts where when you log on to your account, you will see amex offers.

are these pre approved offers or just marketing to get you to apply for stuff.

I think they are real pre-approved offers. I get them for some of their charge cards but they dont interest me.
