AMEX: what constitutes as grocery?

I've been using my Blue Cash at Walmart thinking I was getting 1% cash back. Turns out I wasn't! Bummer! And anything I buy from gas stations or CVS counts towards the bonus cash back.

So, to make this short and sweet, where should I buy my groceries? lol

wal mart is not considered a grocery store by any rewards program i know of. you have to use a stand alone store like kroger, etc..

any stand alone grocery. a&p, piggly wiggly, thriftway, winn dixie whatever you guys have down there. the big box variety stores (target, walmart, etc..) aren't grocery stores in the eyes of the ccc's.

Re: AMEX: what constitutes as grocery?

You probably do have Kroger OWNED stores in FL, they are just called something else.  Check Kroger.com and you'll see all the affiliated stores (Ralph's, King Sooper, and many more).

Up here in VA I normally use Harris Teeter and Food Lion, but I'm not sure if these are chains localized to this area.

Do BJs Wholesale and Costco count as grocery stores?

No, those are wholesale clubs.

Wholesale clubs and big box stores like Wal-Mart, Target, etc. are specifically excluded from the definition of "supermarket" by just about every rewards program, if not all of them.
