I am loving my Discover more and more everyday, pun intended. In a year I have gone from a $1k limit to $5,700, they gave me a promotional rate on my anniversary for 7.99% APR for a year and now I get a secured message that they have permanently reduced my APR from 22.99% to 16.99% exclusive of any promotional rate. Woohoo!!
Congrats! The last time I tried that, it was either 18.49% APR permanently or 1.9% for 6 months. -__-
I got a similar offer when I was speaking to an account manager.
Timeline
When I got my CLI on the phone at the end of November I asked about an APR reduction, the Account Exec said they would mail me the form.
Mid December I received the form and mailed it back in around the 20th or so snail mail.
On the 21st I called to discuss a payment question and mentioned that I was looking for an APR reduction and the gentlemen said that I just hit my 1 year and could offer me 7.99% for 1 year or 20.99% permanent. I took the 7.99% of course.
Today, I guess they received the written request, which goes to a particular group and got the 16.99% and keep the 7.99% for 1 year (called to confirm and thank them).
You could ask them to mail you the written request.
Just got off the line with Discover's Online Chat. They cut my APR to Prime + 12.99% (16.24%) on all purchases starting on my next statement.
Congrats! Feels good to get the love from Discover.
