Hi. I had paid my Discover in full (after 3 months of good usage, getting balance up to 1300 on a CL of 1900), trying to get a CLI. I called in after the online message said "unable to process." The rep said they weren't even allowed to consider a CLI until at least 6 months. I just wanted to pass this info on.
I don't think they will give you an increase at 6 months either. I have been looking on the Forum and even though Discover makes you wait 6 months, they deny almost all customer requests until they are ready to give you a CLI.
To do it all over again, when they offered me $3K when I opened the account, I would have said $10K, and we would have negotiated from there.
Live and learn.
I agree. I was way too quick to take their $3200 offer. They even asked me if it was good enough/ok, and I said I'd like more but the guy on the phone either didn't hear me or just ignored me. Honestly I was happy to get the offer so I admittedly didn't put up any fight.
So your discover cl is $3200, not $1900 as you said in your original post?
Maybe OP meant $1900 was left after they charged $1300 on their $3200 card. Wish my limit was that high and I asked the rep to go higher too.
I have had no luck they want to pull a hard inquiry bull crap, which is policy because of the new CC law, but I see them in the soft inquiry section of my TU every 3 months, so who knows,. I have had this card 10 years now, got it when I was in college and the have only raised CL automatically, every 12 months, but not in the last 3 years, never upon request. Just sit on it with a zero balance see what happens
