I am about to do some major traveling in the next couple months to Southeast Asia...I want a card that will give me lots of points for my ticket purchases and does not have foreign transaction fees. In addition, I want something that works easily in countries like the Philippines... also flexible on ticket purchases, any suggestions for what I should apply for? UPDATE: I got an offer for a Barclaycard Rewards...is this card any good for traveling? Also, I have an Amex which now has enough points to buy one way tix to Philippines on their travel site...as for where I plan to stay...I went on tripadvisor and found a hotel near where I need to be but it isn't a major named hotel but I can book online through tripadvisor. I currently opened up a joint account at Chase but as of now I do ot own any chase type credit cards.
How about Barclay Arrival+ World Elite? 2x points back on all travel I think.. It's the one I'm eyeing for travel

Isn't Discover the most widely accepted card issuer in Asia? I know there's no FTFs and I believe there's a Discover geared toward travel rewards. Other options that come to mind that are actual travel cards are BOA travel rewards, CSP, Arrival +
I'd recommend the Chase Sapphire Preferred without knowing any of your spending habits.

As would I, minus knowing some specifics. Honestly, the Arrival is really a poor choice in my personal opinion for travel, since SO many travel cards (like the PRG, CSP, Hyatt, etc) give bonused spending on travel that is guaranteed to beat out the 2.2% on the Arrival.

Says the guy with the Arrival+
By the way, I'm looking at my preapprovals from Chase - none of the cards show any Visa or MC logo. Does CSP come in both?

I have the Arrival too. Shouldn't have gotten it. Doesn't work for me (although it does for some).
CSP is a VISA only.

What about it doesn't work? Travel card is the toughest selection for me so far, about to give up and just stick with cashback.
OP, what monthly spend do you estimate putting on the card? Do you stick with any particular airlines / hotels, or just whatever?

For me personally I simply get better value elsewhere. I value my Hyatt points at 2 cents each, and my UR points at least at 2 cents each, so for me, even if I only get 1 Gold Passport point or UR point, it's always right around what the Arrival gives. Then, there are the categories which are worth much more. Then there is the Freedom which has categories worth way more. I use the UR Mall when I can.
As an example, I use the Hyatt card mostly right now, for just about everything. Now, before I say this, I understand some people might not get 2 cents per point for Hyatt, but that's the minimum of what I've been getting with my redemptions. So for me:
2 cents per dollar on everything
4 cents per dollar on dining and airfare
6 cents per dollar on Hyatt, not including their own points awarded
Here is another big kicker... While having a $75 AF, you get a cat 1-4 hotel stay every year, that in my opinion is easily worth AT LEAST double the $75, and can be worth way more. I used points last weekend to stay at a cat four hotel on the beach that would have been $449 a night otherwise.
The point being, this works really well for me. Instead of having a $89 or $95 fee every year, I consider myself to have at least a $75 credit (AF - value of free room) each year. Just see what works for you is what I'm trying to say.
