So I recently booked a short trip home with some Delta miles I had from trading in MR points from my Amex ED. Then, suddenly 2 weeks later found out that I had to make a pretty significant travel change. I called Delta, who said I had to pay $150.00 to redeposit my delta miles as a result of the change. I was agitated because this month has just been a nightmare with unexpected expenses. I paid the fee with my Citi Prestige and grumbled on with my day...
Then it hit me! I called to check if my $250 annual airline credit with citi prestige would cover that charge, and it does! Yes I could have used that credit elsewhere, but it's just great to know that I don't need to bear another unexpected expense this month. And I didn't even use the card thinking about that as a strategy.
Sometimes those benefits just come in handy when you least expect it.
