Alaska Air Visa Signature

Hi all! I would REALLY like to get the Alaska Air Visa Signature card. I would like to do more traveling with my daughter and the miles and companion ticket would help a ton with cost. My early credit history was not so great and I have a history of late payments. I also have quite a few inquiries (which is frustrating when you're shopping around for the best rates!). My current Fico scores are EQ: 623, T: 668 and EX: 649. I would love some feedback on what other's experiences were with getting approval for this card!

I will say if you get approve, it will be for a Platinum version. They will pull EX and it is low for the Visa Signature version. If you bank with them, they can make an expection, but I don't think it will be approved for the VS. Please keep in my that the Visa Signature version requires $5K start limit. Again, everything could change if you have a relationship with them.

Re: Alaska Air Visa Signature

I can't speak for this card in particular but I can speak on the issuer. BofA has always pulled EX for me and if they do so for you, I'd have to say your probably not looking at an approval. While BofA is not the most conservative lender, they aren't the loosest either. Inquiries depending on how much could be a problem and late payments depending on how recent could be another roadblock as well. The average approval score I've seen for this card, since were talking a BofA signature card is high 600's but mostly over 700, I'd probably save the inquiry and save it for another day.

Re: Alaska Air Visa Signature

Thank you. My late payments aren't very recent but are still lingering. I do have a card now with a $9k limit and have never been late on a single payment. But I do think the late payments will hurt me

Re: Alaska Air Visa Signature

While I haven't personally applied, I would say the same as others and recommend to wait. I've looked quite a bit into both cards, and unless you get the visa sig - the plat is just not worth it. At the very least you can still sign up for the rewards program (free) or take a shot and apply anyways. *Not a huge fan of programs that wont approve you for what you apply for, but will give you a lower card.

Had no idea they offered this card as a platinum, thought they all were signatures.
