They pulled my Equifax report (I subscribe to equifax's credit report monitoring deal). They also put down the initial $5 dollars for my savings account. I declined the free checking account offer, but depending on how things pan out with WaMu switching to Chase and how comfortable I feel with Alliant, I may open up a checking account with Alliant.
OK...I have a ??
They say to join you have to be a member of a "qualifying organization"..I am a member (I suppose) of AFLAC (I pay them $$ every month to have benefits). AFLAC is on their list but when I tried to go thru the motions to sign up...I get to the drop down menu for the "org's"...NO AFLAC!
So what's the deal? Do you have to live in Chicago or something????
Mo,
You are not alone on that one. I work for Cendant which is clearly listed as an qualifying organization, but it was not on the drop down. I actually called it in.

You don't have to have kids to join PTA. I just mentioned that if you happened to all ready belong to the local PTA, you all ready qualify without anything else.
Anyone can go to www.pta.org and join.
As for the other organizations, it may require verification or something or the manual call in. But if you select PTA, you can do the online app and see if they give any preapproval offers. If you call in or manual app in, then no offers, you have to apply and get another hard inq.
I wouldn't stress over the inq. I've had 2 on my EQ in the last couple months & my score has only gone up & the inq aren't posting as a neg on my fico score pages.
Inq are all part of building your credit.
