Hey guys,
I hope I'm not beating a dead horse here, but I have a question about amex backdating. I was approved for an amex green a month and a half ago with about 2 months of history. I turned 18 in late july. According to what I've read, When you open a second Amex card, it reports the month of approval, and the year of your first card. So if I apply in January, it will show as opened 1/14. Isthis correct? will it factor into my AAoA?
Thanks

Yes your second card wil be dated Jan 14. That adds one extra year so it will help your AAoA but without knowing how many other CLs you have it's impossible to tell how much. If the cards listed in your signature is everything you have it probably won't help much but anything is better than 3 months. Good luck.

Correct. That is AMEX's current reporting policy. And congrats on setting your MSD at age 18. That may come in hand down the road...it did for me.
So if I'm understanding the OP's question correctly; if you apply for a second AmEx in any other month than January you're basically screwing yourself out of added AAoA?

No he would actually gain some

That's what I'm saying.

No, he would lose age.
An account opened in January for OP would backdate to 01/14. Any account opened in another month would backdate to XX/14, XX being a later month than January.

Another question:
I don't have a FiCO generated yet. I'm sitting at 4 months history. It'll be 6 in February. If I get this card in early January, will I then have a FiCO?
There is another member here that got a card without a score but he had to provide them with a copy of his pay stubs. YMMV
