Just got one of these in the mail.... even though I already have this exact card. this is for the non-prefered version. 

for anyone looking to get this card, ask an AmEx rep if they can extend the offer to you . 

the offer is for 25,000 points after $2,000 in spending within the first 3 months.

does anyone know of any good offers for the prefered version? i'm looking to get it. i want to see if there is offer worth considering to open a new account rather than just upgrade.

No, at least not on their website.  It's a targetted offer, but you may be able to find a backdoor link, though I'm not aware of any that currently exist.
