American Express Pre-Paid Card?????????

Just received another offer for the Amex Pre-paid card.  Is it worth it?  Does it help to obtain an Amex Card?

Thanks...

Re: American Express Pre-Paid Card?????????

I've never heard of anyone getting any card based on the pre-paid card. They do have some cool offers for it though, i got an email today that if i load $200 they'll give me $25 as a bonus.

in my opinion though you're better off building a solid credit history than using a prepaid card that if it even does help, only helps with one lender. a solid credit history will always help and the pre-paid card might not.

Re: American Express Pre-Paid Card?????????

Im on my third week using mine.  What I'm doing is loading 200-300 per week on card and then using it for my dining and entertaining expenses.  I have two normal credit cards that I'm pushing 1000 on one and 2000 on the other per month and using those for bills and groceries.  The earliest you will receive an invitation to get another AMEX product based on the prepaid card is 6 months.

There have been posts from people who have used it less than six months and applied on their own and were approved for another AMEX card.  There is no way to tell if the use of the prepaid card influenced AMEX's approval decision.  I'm using it on the off chance that it will.  I plan on apping for AMEX around October (maybe early December if my travel gets pushed back).  I'll let yall know how it goes.

Re: American Express Pre-Paid Card?????????

@ Ducanrr...gonna try the card and see what happens.  I have been getting quite a few cards lately.  Havent apped for any, will see if this helps to get back with Amex.  In the process of paying all my cards off.  Amex is the next major card I want, so I will see if this helps with other cards being at 0 balance.

Let me know how yours works out.....

Re: American Express Pre-Paid Card?????????

I was just lurking through the amex pre-paid page, and it doesn't say anything about Make Your Move (the program that would have them offer you a card after at least 6 months of history with the pre-paid) anymore. I wonder if they got rid of the program.

It's still there. I talked with CSR about it.

Re: American Express Pre-Paid Card?????????

I am on my 6th month mark around the 20th of this month.  No offer or invitation, but they have sent me several surveys regarding my experience with the card.

For me, I got it for the small chance of getting an invitation, however I haven't loaded huge amounts onto the card.  couple hundred here or there.  Nothing consistent.

I am with NFCU, and slowly been eliminating those high priced cards I got in the beginning.  I am extremely satisfied with the way NFCU and Cap One has treated me thus far.  I guess it just hasn't been a high priority for me.

Altho let me clarify, getting in with AMEX is, I just know that proper weeding and watering the credit card patch and time with patience is the key.

Just my 2Cents.

Re: American Express Pre-Paid Card?????????

I'm new here and I keep seeing the term "backdating" or "backdating purposes" what does this mean in relation to AMEX?

Thanks excuse me for my ignorance.
