American Express - Travel Protection?

My husband and I are going on vacation in September.  We found a really good rate for a hotel, but only advance purchase, with no changes/refunds.  Does anyone know if that still applies if I reserve the room with my American Express card?  What I mean is, does American Express have a travel protection plan that would refund the money if an emergency popped up and we needed to cancel/change our reservation?

Your best bet probably is just to call AmEx and ask them, and/or check whatever materials came with your card, when you got it, as a lot of things like that are addressed in those materials.
