if you just got your first card a month ago i would wait.
i believe it takes six months of reporting to generate your score.

It is recommended you have a couple cards and at least six months of history under your belt before you even really begin to look into amex.
I say before you even begin looking, because all their website makes you want to do is apply...I know...I'm in the same position. My oldest card just turned 3...months old
