Re: Hard Inquiry Pulls AMEX Address

Yes I was told I would not receive a hard pull. It said it flat out in their ad before I entered my social.

Re: Hard Inquiry Pulls AMEX Address

I'm not trying to do anything shady here. Had I know I was going to get a hard pull I would have at least called the reconsideration line. However I wasn't really interested in getting the card... Just merely saw the ad and figured I'd kill some time.

Re: Hard Inquiry Pulls AMEX Address

Did you apply or did u do the preapproval tool?

If you had actually applied for a card, then the inquiry is legitimate and you won't be able to get it removed.

Re: Hard Inquiry Pulls AMEX Address

All applications for credit will result in a HP.  This is not a valid dispute.

Sorry.

I'm not sure if that's actually applying for credit as much as it's accepting an offer. There's a distinct difference.

Maybe I should have said all applications MAY result in a hp. I am unaware of a SP inq for a new Amex. SP if denied (current members); hp if approved. Even so, it's a YMMV.

Thanks

Are you 110% sure it was a preapproval link? If pull up and post the link up here and we can check it for you

The general rule of thumb is full social = credit app = HP. Last 4 = iffy.

   3/12 $3500     6/12 $1200      10/12 $1500   12/12 $3400    6/13 $12000      7/13 $5000      7/13 $2500       8/13 $2000    8/13 $6000

  | CSP (AU) $12,000 | Amex PRG (AU) | United $6,000 | OCCU $12,000 | Ink Bold | GM $3,200 | DCU $7500 | Luthansa $9000 | SPG $6,000 | Citi AA Executive $11,000 | Ink Plus $5,000                                                                         | EX 2/7 697 | EQ 10/27 721 | TU 12/15 719 |

Re: American Express

Did you go to the preselected site, it said they had no offers for you, but welcomed you to apply?

Typically the preapproval sites will not ask you for your full info, like income, etc.  Did you enter that?  If so, full app.

I would also call the recon department.
