This sounds like the Borg within AMEXs systems saw the 30-day late in 2014, put the limit on the Platinum, and the Borg does not forget.
The $5k "limit" on the Platinum is not going to affect your score if you charge up to that amount. The trick is to pay it by the due date a few weeks later.
What is the limit on the revolver?

Hi NRB525 the Everyday Preferred limit is 3K which is why I submitted for the CLI increase tried to get it to at least 9K. I then got a letter saying that they couldn't do the increase because of the SPL on the Platinum card, when I called they advised that SPL are looked at as negative and that in order for me to get anytype of CLI in the future the SPL needs to be lifted to return the charge card back to a No Pre Set Limit. This started the entire downward spiral of phone call after phone call, transfer after transfer. Can't do anything but laugh at this point. The crazy thing is Chase removed the 30 day late 2 months later after I disputed it with them. Yet this SPL with Amex still remains on my Plat Card.
*** UPDATE*** I finally got someone at Amex who could assist, basically they have not removed the spending limit because my monthy spend has not bumped up against or exceeded the spending limit. The represntative indicated that in order for them to lift it you need to show that you are actually using and advised me to increase spend using my charge card vs the revolver.
