Had Blue Cash Preferred at $15,500 and got instant $30,000 approval. Account open for 7 months, score of 780, and income of around $120,000. Honestly thought they would ask for income verification. Score!

Congratulations! That's a nice increase.
About the time this thread first came out, I was considering trying to get my Delta Gold from $9k to $27k, but then I started looking at other AMEX cards. Ended up getting Hilton, SPG, and now EDP, my 4th AMEX revolver, for $15k, the highest starting limit so far, that puts my total AMEX Centurion CL at $47,000. All three approvals this year have been instant, no indication of any 4506-T, and I'm carrying from $1,500 to $3k on the Delta Gold at a 6.99% APR promo rate during that time.
I spend alot of time reading the forum before I take any action with my credit cards and one thing is certain, there is no way to predict how the banks are going to respond. I've been following the "rules" for AMEX 3x CLI and my CL is currently at $25k (applied Aug 2014). Income is $32k, no assets to speak of and you can see my credit score and the cards I have below. I use it almost exclusively for groceries which is about $500/mo. Still scratching my head.

How can they give 25k limit on a 32k income??
Because with the AMEX revolvers, you can request and be granted 3X CLI on a regular basis. Note that the $32k income has only $500 per month in charges. Others who have started charging up their new larger limit AMEX CL, taking larger charges, have sometimes found that those limits were CLD radically.
With AMEX, the Credit Line changes are "easy come, easy go", both CLI and CLD. If they don't want you to have them at some point down the road, it's a quick decrease. But you can win the CL back later with good payment performance and/or by sharing 4506-T information.

Funny how that works. They'll give it to ya if you don't need it or use it. I don't use anywhere near the credit limits I have especially with my income but I closely monitor my credit score and having higher limits has a significant impact.
