Amex 2nd and 3rd cards - which way to go?

Delta account opened in Feb 2015 w/ SL of $1K

Ran $1200 through account in 2 months to get the 30K miles. Balance owing is $68.

Tried early CLI after the 61 day ruling was overturned and got slammed. Not eligible to request CLI until June 1st.

Applied for ED, BC abd BCP .....denied after 2 months of membership.

EX: FICO 663

Oldest account reporting: AU on 2 Capital One accounts of 5 years

AAofA 15 months

Inq: 35

Utilization: reporting $2,949 on $9,650 total credit. or 30%. (includes personal loan with $1,400 balance)

Total Utilization after all account update: 23% Total bankcard utilization: 14%

DTI is around 5%

Highest credit line $2,000 Cap one account 5 months old

lowest credit line $300 Wells Fargo and US bank rewards cards.....recently graduated from secured.

Accounts that have not reported:

Bank America Secured 123 rewards: 500

Shell Drive for 5: $500

Shell Platinum Mastercards: $500

Any suggestions and directional advice  would be appreciated. Holding $1,100 in savings to use where it will best help my FICO to 700+

Any suggestions on which revolver to go for next and odds of approval.

Re: Amex 2nd and 3rd cards - which way to go?

garden for another 3 months, if they aren't willing to give you a CLI to 3k don't bother with another AP, You need to build your relationship with AMEX, eventually they will give you a CLI, then you can start to think of extending it, who wants a 4 AMEX cards with $1k limits. Get your delta to 3k, then your next AMEX card hopefully won't be doomed with a 1k limit.

Re: Amex 2nd and 3rd cards - which way to go?

When it comes to credit it is all about patience.  Let your accounts age a bit for 3-6 months and then try again for the Amex.  They are denying you because they don't like something about your profile.

So use the cards, pay on time, grow your intenal score and then try again in the future.  All the best..

Re: Amex 2nd and 3rd cards - which way to go?

Best guess is all the new accounts opened since Thanksgiving.

The only thing I can think of that may be impacting my profile is that I am no longer AU on my wifes 5 year old Cap one Accounts (due to balances).

Got the Delta online approval in 5 seconds in February with a 675 FICO and 35% utilization. Denied for the ED with same HP.

On the plus side, you apping for additional Amex products only results in SP denials. Give it time as suggested on here because they are a great company to do business with...at least that's my experience!!

Amex Gold =Amex ED 20k = Amex BCP 14k = Amex SPG Lux 2k = Arrival 2k = Ring 14k = BOA 321 30k = BOA BBR 10k = CSR 25k = Freedom 10k = Citi Simplicity 9k = Citi DC 5k = Citi DP 3k = DCVR IT 16k = DCVR IT(2) 10k = CAP1 QS 15k = NFCU CR24k/AE25k/CLOC 15k = BBVA 14k = Wells Plat. 5k = (2) US Bank Cash+ 13k, 18k = PenFed 17k
