Amex 3x CLI

I was going to go for a 61 day 3x CLI on my SPG card that I picked up in end of June in a few weeks. However, it just occured to me that I may have a problem. On 1/2 of this year I got a BCP card and I got a 3x CLI on that card at some point in March. Since its been less than six months since that CLI will that prevent me from getting a 61 day CLI on a card I obtained subsequent to that CLI? I would assume so.  The only difference it will make is a few more weeks of waiting but still.

From what I read, you need to wait 6 months between CLI, so if you did one in March, you will need to wait.

Yea, I suspected as much. Looking at it I think it will only push my request back about 1 1/2-2 weeks so not too bad. On a more positive note it will give time for my freedom balance to update, so I will just PIF before statement cuts to zero it out.

Correct.  You'll be eligible to request on the 181st day from your last requested CLI approval.

I'm in a similar situation.  I got my BCE back in March and did a successful 3X CLI in May.  I just got the Costco TE last week.   So I'll have to wait until November 1st to request another 3X CLI on either card.

The conventional wisdom is to do all your SP CLI requests prior to an app cycle, but this type of situation should be kept in mind if your app cycle includes an amex. You may not want to do a SP CLI if your going to be getting a new amex within the next four months, because you could get stuck with a low limit on the new card for up to  six months!
