Amex 61 Day CLI

I've read in quite a few threads about Amex doing a 61 day credit limit increase, but do not fully understand it.  Is this an automatic credit limit increase they do or is this something that has to be requested?  Hard pull or soft pull?  And in general how large is the credit increase?  I recently got the Blue Cash Preferred and have been putting quite a few purchases through on it.

Re: Amex 61 Day CLI

This is the earliest you can request an increase. The request may be for up to 3X the current limit. It is not a guaranteed increase even if all is well with your account.

+1  Also, almost certainly only a soft pull.

Re: Amex 61 Day CLI

It's a perk I say of getting a new American Express Card that you can "possibly" ---- (I would say good chance) of getting a nice little increase very early in cardholdership!

If you have $2k, you ask for $6k.

It is ALWAYS SP

You should WALWAYS ask for 3x current CL UP TO $25k.  The system will ALWAYS counter IF available for something else, but if declined people seem to feel like they shouldn't have ask for so much and they might have gotten it... with Amex this is not true!!

After this request for CLI, You then fall into the every 6 months CLI policy.

Re: Amex 61 Day CLI

Is the best way to go about this calling their customer service or do they have an option to apply for the credit limit increase online?
