Amex 61 day 3x question

I am just nervous about requesting $30k.  Should I be?  I have added alot of credit in the past year.($3k to 60k)  Delta 10k instant, PRG&TE one month later.  The Delta will be 61 days on april 16.  Score is 699 and util is 4% and I don't want to open a can of worms by obtaining too much credit in short period.  Anyone have any thoughts?  Am I over thinking this?

Re: Amex 61 day 3x question

my DW was just approved from 10k to 30k instantly. But there was no new credit added to her CR in the 60 days since opening the account.

Thanks!

Debating $20k or full $30k.  I really dont see a need for more than 10k but would not want to max out a card by putting 7 or 8k on it.

No idea.  Have you read the 3x CLI thread?  It states that over $25K tends to lead to a 4506-T but the specific number seems to vary based on anecdotal evidence provided in various threads.  If you're not concerned about the 4506-T (just supplied one myself for a CLI and didn't find it to be a big deal but YMMV) then ask away and they'll counter if they think $30K is too high.

Definitely consider your utilization and not just what you need for spend.

Re: Amex 61 day 3x question

I have read it.  I know it is a possibility and that many have had instant approvals as stated above with no request for the 4506.  i have no problem with the 4506 just not a big fan of giving info like that unless i have to.  My big concern is raising a red flag that causes AA since Amex will now be my main card company from here on out.

Re: Amex 61 day 3x question

Just my experience so YMMV, but I haven't had an issue with CLI.  Never stuck to the 61-day plan as I was ill-informed by not being a member.  For my last CLI I actually did 3 requests, the first for $50k which gave me the 7-10 message which I called about and was told I would need to fill out the 4506-T.  While I was on the phone with the CSR I cancelled that request and put in a 2nd for $40k and same thing.  Was told it brought the same reponse, but generally values under $35k were not subject to the 4506-T.  I then cancelled the 2nd request and put in a 3rd for $34.5k and got an instant approval.  All this was about 2 months ago, so I won't do anything until August for my Gold Delta SkyMiles card.
