Amex Auth User Backdate...Success ???

So I'm an authorized user on my girlfriends Amex, she's had hers since 2006.  My personal cards list the member since date of 2012.  I read elsewhere that some people are having success getting Amex to backdate to the member since date of the account holder on which said person is an authorized user.  I therefore called Amex today.  I told the lady that I wish to have a replacement card sent to me since the member since date erroneously lists 2012 instead of 2006.  I then had 2 conference in my "wife" to verify her identity.  Afterwards, the representative put me on hold while she escalated the call.  She came back 4-5 minutes later and said the card should arrive within 7-10 business days with the corrected member since date.

In my wallet: Amex Platinum NPSL, Amex Everyday Preferred $15,000, Amex Starwood $10,000, Chase Freedom Visa Signature $10,000, Chase Sapphire Preferred Visa Signature $15,000, Chase Ink Plus Visa Signature $5000 Barclaycard Arrival Plus MasterCard World Elite $10,000, Cap One Quicksilver MasterCard $6000, Citi Prestige World Elite MasterCard $10,000, Citi Forward Visa $6900, Citi Premier World Elite MasterCard $5,800, Discover IT $8500

Re: Amex Auth User Backdate...Success ???

Did she add you as an AU in 2006 or 2012?

If she added you in 2012 or you got your first Amex in 2012, then the MSD should reflect 2012, not 2006.

She added me in 2012.  So it's not actually not the date the account is opened ???

Re: Amex Auth User Backdate...Success ???

Your MSD date is when you are added as an AU, not the primary card holders date.

My father has been a member since the 90's, but I was added in 2013 so my MSD is 2013.

nope.

It used to be that way, but it has since been changed due to abuse.

Your MSD and CR will reflect 2012.

Re: Amex Auth User Backdate...Success ???

Oh ok that makes sense. Now I wonder what's gonna happen because she said the replacement card will have the adjusted member since date. Guess just gotta wait and see.

if they do adjust the account opening date on your CR, just keep quiet about it because you slipped past the cracks. Smiley Wink
