I think I received an auto CLI on my SPG. My previous CL was $25K. I noticed today that my current balance plus pending charges when measured against my available credit adds up to $27K. I've read several threads saying that Amex doesn't give auto CLIs, so here's one data point going the other way. I can confirm when my next statement issues listing my credit limit (or if someone tells me where you can find your CL online, I can't seem to locate it on the website).
The easiest way to check your credit limit is what you have already identified, (current balance plus pending charges and payments). If you have two Amex credit cards you can also go to the tool for transfering credit line from one revolver to another. It's on the bottom of the recent activity page. Once you select the card that you want to transfer the limit from the tool will show you the current limit on that card. You don't have to complete the request to see the limit.
Yesterday I noticed that I have a "increase your credit line" showing on my account, however, my six months won't be until Aug. 7th. Why would they post that ahead of time?

You only have this tool if you are eligible to transfer CL from one card to another. I have $39.5k limit on one card and $25k on another revolver but have never had the option to transfer line from one to another. I think AMEX figures I'm at the upper end of what they like to see as max limits on these particular cards (Original Platinum Optima and SPG). I've also never had a button to ask for more CL, I think they figure I don't need it when they look at what my spending pattern has been over the last 32 years of being an AMEX cardholder, and my spending is now trending down as I don't buy as much as I used to. Everybody's situation is different.

Just cause luv button/line shows doesn't mean your eligible. Resist temptation until you are.
You're right, good advice

Did you already ask for your 61 day CLI from amex?
Yes I have, on Feb. 7th. So I better not try until at least Aug. 7th. I am at 13K right now. Not sure if I will try for 20K or the full 25K in Aug. I am leaning toward the 20K at the moment, even that sounds like a lot after having the card for only 8 months.
