Amex BCP - Meant to wait....BUT.....

I got approved for Blue Cash Preferred today. Yippee!!! I meant to wait until util came down some more but got impatient as I really wanted this card. The categories suit my spending habits very well.

 

For those who might be interested, my utilization is 46%. (Down from 76% in January of this year. I have a line of credit that's killing me but I'm finally getting the beast under control.) AoA is 7 years, no negatives at all. High utilization is the BIG problem.

 

I'd thought of applying for Zync first as recommended but BCP is what I really want, so I went for it. I decided to apply on the phone in the hope of avoiding the "under review" response. I figured I could answer all their questions and try for a recon right then and there if they denied me. Also, AMEX "pre-approval" site offered me plain Blue, Green and Gold, no BCP! I was hurt! Smiley Sad

 

The limit is only 2K and the APR is 20.24 (I think) but the rep suggested I call in after 60 days and they would review both. I plan to pif, so the APR is of no consequence. I'm hoping to get my EX FICO since I didn't get the best terms. Smiley Wink

Congrats on the approval! I realized I wanted the BCP 2 minutes after I was approved for the BCE #FAIL!!!!!!!! Oh well, I will wait the year then PC.

Congrats! I got the same $2K limit & my util is also high. I have a feeling the low initial CL for ppl with high util  might be bc the card comes with 0% apr for 1 year. But that's just a hunch.
