When I got approved for my first American Express card which was a credit card, I had a card reporting 100% utilization, so 52% utilization on one card is probably not the reason for denial. Amex doesn't like baddies though...
I just got approved with 4 inquiries listed and a card at 40% util (but only 15% of total CL util). No baddies ever though.
Does AMEX want the tax info 100% of the time? I'm curious.
Wow. It almost feels like there's no rhyme or reason to their decisions. Maybe we'll call the EO on Monday. Not expecting anything but doesn't hurt to try. I don't have a problem with sending in tax stuff to verify the income so am curious if that was the main reason for the denial. More likely, it was a combination of things.

You know we have your back
Thanks myjouney! I know you guys understand the frustrations.
It's most likely income verification, but if not this time, then just apply again after 30 days. Amex doesn't mind frequent applications with them. In some cases, they even encourage it.
Good luck!
