Re: Amex Backdating

Wish I could tell you.

I had a paid collections with Amex from 06'.  I GW'd them, and they removed the entire TL.

When I log in, it says member since 2006.  My Zync says '12.

It's been over 2 months now, and they've not reported to any CR.  I'm actually beginning to think they won't, for whatever their reason may be.

Re: Amex Backdating

Thanks for all of the advice. I think I will give it a few months before I think about poking the bear. I haven't received the card yet but it still says member since 2012 when I log in.

Re: Amex Backdating

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm still trying to figure out if I should try to get Amex to backdate my account to 1993. It was an unpaid CO from 2001. Just got approved last week and my Zync and Gold card arrived yesterday with  the "member since 2012". It also says 2012 when I log in. Would love to here different members advice. I read the old posts on this issue but I am still unsure on what to do. Thanks in advance!

Re: Amex Backdating

Thanks FrugalRican! All I can keep thinking about is the possibility of 19 years of account age on two cards. What impact that would have on my scores.

Re: Amex Backdating

I had a BK back in 2004 with Green Card owed about $300-500 and just applied this month for Amex Sky card and my card says 2012 but online member said 1999, so i gave them a call and getting new card in the mail in few days with old year 1999.

I'm also AU on another card from 2 months ago that one says 2012, I'm pretty sure i can call and have it switched to 1999 but not sure if it worth it ?

Re: Amex Backdating

I had an unpaid CO from 1991. Last year they sent me an offer to apply for a Green card, and they approved me. I know for certain that they were aware of the CO, but they approved me anyway. When I logged in for the first time, it showed my Member Since date as 1987.

Congrats on the approval and getting back in!

Re: Amex Backdating

Update: Decided to poke the bear. Called in to Amex this afternoon and they had a record of my 1993 account. Both my Zync and Gold are being shipped out with the member since 1993.  And the credit bureaus should be updated with the new account opening dates. I did not get any questions as to the unpaid CO. Here's to 19 years of backdating and many thanks to American Express for giving me a second chance!

Congratulations! Did you call the regular number or executive offices? I need to do the same for my 1999 account.

Re: Amex Backdating

I called the number on the back of my Gold Card and she said that my card would go right out but that I'd have to call Zync myself. Suspicious right? When I called the Zync number she gave me I spoke to Richard and he was awesome. He said that if he sent me another card it would still say 2012. He put me on hold and foaccount old account and updated both my Gold and Zync card. He said that the CRAs should be updated during the next reporting and that I should receive my card in 9-10 business days. He even asked if I wanted the cards to read "1993" or "93". I went with "93" since that was how it was listed on my Green card which I still have. I'll update once I receive the cards and they are reporting correctly.
