Re: Amex Blue APRs

I know the Prime Rate is low, and my APRs on other Reward cards have dropped, but this is still low for me.

It is almost as if they are testing me to see if the low APR will tempt me to carry a balance Smiley Very Happy

NOT WITH AMEX!!!!

Re: Amex Blue APRs

I opened my my Hilton Amex in Feb 2008.
My FICOs were around 800 at the time.
The day I opened the account, the rate was 17.24%  However, I had a 1.9% intro rate for 6 mos.

Statement 1:  16.49%

Statement 2:  15.99%

Statement 3:  15.24%

Statement 4:  15.24%

Statement 5:  14.99%

Statement 6:  14.99%

Here's the thing: I made a few charges and PIF before the first statement. My rate dropped every month that I PIF.  When I opted to carry a balance to see how it would affect my scores, the rate stayed the same...  The first time I didn't PIF, I carried a balance of  about $1,000 and then PIF the next month.

Last month, I carried a balance of $4.05.  My rate didn't drop.

Re: Amex Blue APRs

of course with variable rate cards the recent prime rate drops have brought down aprs -not issuer love for cardholder per se.  but it is still the issuer who at their sole discretion can nonetheless raise your apr for any reason despite the rate drops. so if they don't and let you enjoy the lower rate unmolested (the rate obviously only matters if you're carrying a balance) it seems like they are working with you rather than raining on u'r prime rate drop parade, it was heady times!

What percentage of your annual income does your total available credit represent, if you don't mind me asking?
