I was preapproved for the Amex Blue Sky card and I applied for it last week using the preapproval number they gave me on the mailer. I was instantly approved for 2400.00. I got the card in and noticed that they sent me the Blue Sky Preferred Card. What is the difference? I saw where you get more points with the preferred and the preferred shows having a annual fee but the paperwork I got with the card says no fee. But the card itself is preferred. So why would they preapprove me for one and give me the other?

You get more rewards for your spending on the Preferred. It means they issued you the fee card by mistake or sent you the wrong account agreement. Either way, Amex will likely honor what you received and waive and/or refund any fees until the next year.
I would contact Amex to be sure. Let them know there was a perceived mistake, find out how they will handle it. It's always better to address now. You know there's mistake , why not address it?
I just looked at my account online and they have sent me the paperwork for the regular card and just printed my info on the preferrred card because the paperwork matched what the preapproval offered. I also have an option to upgrade to the preferred card so I know for sure it's all messed up now. There are alot of numbers for them in the backdoor section....which one should I call? The "account has issues " one? Would this be a good time to ask them if I could switch to the blue cash everyday card or should I wait that out?
