Amex CLI denied due to "credit limits are sufficient for income"

"Internal/external credit limits are sufficient for income"

Have I reached my internal limit with Amex?

What I don't understand is that I used to have a Blue card with a $5K CL in addition to my other 2 cards and I had closed that card about 2 months before requesting this measly $2K CLI on my BCP.

I wonder if it's because of the other cards I've gotten in the last 2-3 months (BofA and Chase Amazon)...

Either reached your internal, or the other cards have pushed you over their external limit.   Are the Chase and BoA limits together higher than the closed Blue?

8 times higher than the Blue ($40K vs $5K)

Do you gardening think for 6 months to a year might help my chances next time?

Maybe if you get a raise while you garden?

Anecdotally, AMEX caps the revolvers ~40% of your annual income, but I'm not sure how lots of credit outside AMEX affects that.

Hmm, that would still leave another $10K of wiggle room. I wonder if it's because of the PRG I got for backdating purposes...(which I don't use it at all)

Re: Amex CLI denied due to "credit limits are sufficient for income"

There are a lot of factors that play a roll in this decision.

- What is your income amount listed with AMEX?

- What are the balances on your other cards?

What are the credit limits on all of your cards?
