Amex CLI, new soft pull or old AR pull?

I've seen a few Amex AR softs on my reports. Anyone know if Amex bases their CLI requests on those, or if they add a new soft at the time of request? My understanding is that they typically don't pull a hard for CLI.

They use the soft from the last account review
