I'm pretty sure in the past I have had AmEx match a points offer and credit the points to my account. The sooner you call in after approval, the better the chances. No need to be afraid to talk to a CSR.
I really don't think 50k is a current offer. 30k is the regular offer, the targeted offer is 35k. Maybe Delta is handing out their own special offers, but 30 and 35k are the only regular ones through Amex that I know of
