I don't understand why they would make a card branded toward travellers with no ftf but then say you can't get get the chip for no good reason. Then they try to sugarcoat it and tell you how great the card is and that it has no ftf. Great, thanks. I clearly know the features of the credit cards I apply to.
Right, sorry, I was responding the the SPG mentioned in the other post. I agree that on a card they have just removed the FTF from, it makes very little sense to stop giving you chipped cards.

Why not have the chip to better protect ourselves? Especially with all the crappy people out there trying to steal our information.
Edit: Typo
Just not sure how much protection it is in the US. If I copy the mag stripe, I can still use it in the vast majority of machines that are not EMV. Protection really only comes when EMV is in use nearly everywhere
And I'm not saying "Don't get it", just how much effort it is worth trying to get it. Eventually, they will be issued on all cards

Makes sense. As far as the effort I've given up on it already, wasted too much time on it already.
They are definitely out there, just hard to attain for some odd reason.
@jd352 wrote:Histerically, the first Chip+Sig card I received from them on their "improving customer security" was on my Zync card that I never used and cancelled anyway.
Yeah, they sent me one of those without my asking for it, too. Which is ridiculous considering I now put < $30 a month on that card since I have much better cards for most purchases.
Not really sweating it, though. The cards I want EMV on are Chase Sapphire Preferred and Capital One Venture. Those are the cards I actually *use* when abroad.
Report your card misplaced and request a new one. Perhaps they'll send you a chipped replacement.
@greenfield1 wrote:I called amex yesterday because I recently got my delta gold and asked if I could get my card with the EMV chip. The csr told me that they couldn't give me a card with the chip and that they would maybe start doing this some time next year. Can anyone confirm if this is true? I've seen some recent posts about the EMV chip being attained with this card so I wonder if my rep was just dumb.
Maybe you should try asking through chat.
I'd like to get my BCE with a chip, probably once it gets a bit more worn down (and likely after I pick up the Costco TE in January).
If it helps i got my Delta gold with the chip about a month ago and i called AMEX yesterday (?) if i can request the chip in my delta reserve... My new card should be here tommorow.
