Ok. im back from my trip for 5 days now. After being gone a month i decided to come home a little early first to pay some bills and second because my luggage was lost and i had no clothes for the last few days.
Anyway. i got back to New york and had no flight to florida. I had about 40k in skymiles still so i said no big deal i only paid 10k miles to get to new york and 5.60 in fee. Sweet. But no. Delta decided to hit me hard for the last minute flight. 35k miles just to get home. anyway. I have a flight to get back on July 15th. However i want to cancel and get my 10k skymiles back.
Looks like if i want a refund i will have to pay $150. althought i only paid $5.60 for the flight. Im not sure the value of skymiles but there is no way in hell i will pay $150 to get 10k miles back unless someone can tell me the real value? This is crazy. any advice taken. Taxi. Glad to be back in a 1st world country. Yikes. can you say Culture Shock. 
10,000 miles for a one way flight is a good deal. You have the ticket already, but it sounds like that is a non-refundable use of the miles, which makes sense: most Super Low Cost tickets that you buy don't have change capability, that's why they are Non Refundable.
So you have a series of choices: Write off the 10k miles, and spend the 35k miles, or buy a flight with cash for $350 or whatever you can get, OR, wait for the 15th and use the existing ticket without spending the 35k miles or $350.
