Was shopping in another town I never go to and a fraud alert occured at on my Amex card. got a popup notice on my smartphone.
Got a very polite rep on the line, she asked to update some information in my account, then came narrowly close to initiating an FR, but then decided against it. I was literally panicking in my parked car. haha.
I don't know why, but I'm still a little shaken up by it.
phew.....
I dont see the fear in these, unless there were lies on the application. but i could be wrong?????? I suppose the fear could be lowering CL?
I dont have an AMEX revolver though, so CONGRATS on dodging that, I wouldnt want to lose one if I had one!
I guess I would pass an FR actually. My tax history would support my applications. I suppose my fear and anxiety is irrational, but doesn't stop me from being worried.
I hear ya...i believe they freeze your account while its being reviewed and that would be really annoying. well, take a deep breath and go swipe your AMEX ha
the most chilling thing that I learned is that know exactly each item in a purchase you bought when you go shopping, not just the summary totals.
big brother lol
Glad you came away ok with no FR
congrats but how does a fraud alert turn into a FR? just curious.. as for the line item detail it depens on the merchants system its known as level 3 processing, not every system supports it, its typically used for business that issue employees pcards and in govt agencies. the customer's company uses it for spend analysis

Chilling, indeed. Times have changed.
