Re: Amex NPSL Question

This is what I love about Amex. An absolutely unsurpassed ability to charge large amounts. I didn't have baddies but my oldest acct was just 3 years. I've checked a couple of times before purchases >20k then > 50k which were approved but I have no idea what the actual limit is. At this point I no longer bother to check though I suppose I would if I was looking at using it for >80k or so and I don't forsee that as likely.

Re: Amex NPSL Question

@cashnocredit,

Thanks for the info.  Like you, I'll most likely never even use the 10k I have now, but it's sure nice to know you have it if you ever need it Smiley Very Happy

Re: Amex NPSL Question

Pat is correct. I got offered after 6 months of membership. There is no AA and the reported balance does not count toward your util. Well, depending on which fico model you use.
2013 Approvals: Discover IT - 3/1, Amex BCE - 3/4, CSP - 5/4, Barclay Ring - 6/12, BoA Privileges Cash - 6/27, Citi TY Preferred - 8/6, OCCU Duck - 11/4, USBank (Cash+) - 11/22, Wells Fargo - 12/21, Nordstrom - 12/29

12/19/2013, $100k+ Available Credit. Total Util: 0-1%

Re: Amex NPSL Question

@armbenderc,

I noticed that the PRG reports to both EX and EQ as a credit card.  It's not calculated in my utilization and reports no credit limit.  If I ever did carry a balance, how does the balance report?  Currently there is no balance.  It just reports highest balance.

Re: Amex NPSL Question

@12njoy according to my Amex credit secure, it just report balance. The balance is not included in your regular util. In fact it doesn't even show unless you look at Amex card to actually see the balance.

Re: Amex NPSL Question

The highest balance is reported. Charge cards don't affect FICO Util calcs at all except for the older TU 98 FICO. I've had the balance report all over the place from zero on up and it has never affected EX or EQ FICO scores.

Re: Amex NPSL Question

@armbenderc & cashnocredit,

Thanks.  I see that is how it reports on EX and EQ now as the highest balance without the PoT feature for me.

Re: Amex NPSL Question

Amex charge cards do not effect your util because the CL is n/a.
